my why

Hi friends,

Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy your stay. Have a tea or a coffee, sit down and hang out for a while.

Oh and don’t worry, you haven’t stepped into a time machine and been taken back to the early 2010s. This is really happening. A blog in 2024.

You see, I have always wanted a blog. I see it as a place to explore concepts and ideas, to share experience and education. I see it as a place to put the things I think about on the daily into written format so that someone somewhere might get some value from them.

That value may be educational - maybe you’ll learn something about movement that you haven’t known before, maybe you’ll be able to use it and get some benefit from it.

That value may be emotional - in a world where the average watch time on an Instagram reel is 3 seconds, I hope that slowing down and reading these posts provides your brain with a break. Maybe your shoulders will drop, maybe your breathing will slow and maybe, just for the 5 minutes you spend reading this, you’ll have some “you” time.

I am an exercise physiologist, but to me that’s what this whole thing is about: helping people to feel good and get connected to their body; forget about their stressors for a second and spend some time doing something that empowers them.

Exercise is the medium I use for empowering others. But who knows, in another life I am sure I would have the same approach in another career. Maybe I would be an accountant, and I would use my abilities to free up mental space in peoples lives so they can be more present and connected to themselves and others; feel good about themselves and be empowered to live the life they want to live.

But I’m glad I live this life: I love movement. Movement is expression and expression is empowering.

I know the blog format is not for everyone, but I hope those that enjoy reading long form (educational and sometimes personal) writing join me in this journey.

I’ll see you same time, same place next month: the second Friday of each month at 6:00am.

Mark it in your calender and get the coffee pot ready.

As always, thank you for being here.

B
