What is an Exercise Physiologist ?

An AEP is a University qualified allied health professional with over 4 years of education and 500+ hours of practical experience.

Our role is to optimise the health, quality of life and independence of all people.

Through the design, delivery and adaptation of physical activity and exercise interventions.

We help to increase capacity for participation in activities at home, school, work and in the community: from learning to walk without fear of falling, to participating in powerlifting competitions.

From prevention, to management, to performance.

We educate how exercise can improve health, and empower others to self manage and increase their self efficacy.

Coaching, adapting to individual preferences, needs, barriers and goals is a large portion of our role.

An EP's scope of practise includes:

Those that are considered healthy, as well as those with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities such as:

  • cancers

  • cardiovascular

  • metabolic

  • neurological

  • musculoskeletal

  • kidney

  • mental health

…and any other conditions for which there is evidence that exercise can improve quality of life.

From Prevention and Management, to Performance.
